Description: These beautiful Beads are hand carved  from the trimmings of the Bethlehem Holy Land olive tress by the Bethlehem Bible Artists a group of Christian craftsmen in Bethlehem. Every year the olive trees are pruned so that they bear fruit an essential process which allows a new and healthier growth for the trees and to generate environmental stability. No Tree was damaged or destroyed in the process of harvesting the wood.

All carvings made of the Bethlehem olive wood have a varying and smooth grain, making every piece extraordinarily unique. It is very difficult to match the grain of two pieces since the pattern is completely hidden in the heart of the wood. Bethlehem   olive wood is heavy, dense and durable with a distinctive red pigment in its grain. As it ages, it will become darker.

You can estimate the age of a particular piece by examining its grain. Very old trees have a dark grain while younger trees exhibit a lighter color.

Our olive wood beads are made from the trimmings of the oldest olive trees in Bethlehem also called the Roman Trees they got their Roman name because they have been living in Bethlehem and bearing fruits since Jesus and the Romans time some of the tress are over 2000 years old.

All our beads are only made from the heart of the Bethlehem olive wood because the heart of the olive wood has darker grains and has the most color.
